The Pain and Spine Clinic aims to treat pain that originates in any part of the spine, including the neck, the back or the sacroliac region. Other long-standing conditions, such as headaches, neuropathic pain and post surgical pain will also be treated. We believe it is important that early pain relief is achieved, combined with physical therapies and rehabilitation.

All modalities of treatment will be considered:

• Optimal medication
• Neuro-modulation with medication or stimulators
• Directed pain relief with X-ray guided injections, such as facet joints, epidurals and nerve root sleeve injections
• Denervation procedures

A small minority of patients may require surgical management.

The fixed cost package offers an initial assessment with a pain specialist or spinal neurosurgeon specialist, one of the following investigations; MRI scanning, plain X-rays, blood tests or EMG and conduction studies followed by appropriate treatment.

This would be inappropriate for those patients who have already been treated for the same problem or have “failed back”.

An alternative programme will be appropriate for long-term complex patients with failed back.
